Case Story: Elvirasminde
Danes have a deep affection for their beloved ‘flødeboller,’ and to satisfy the strong demand within the domestic market, Elvirasminde in Skanderborg produces nearly two million 'flødeboller' every day, available in a variety of sizes and flavors. But the love for this delicious treat isn’t limited to Denmark — the ‘chocolate-coated marshmallow treat’ enjoys popularity in many countries around the world. Serving these diverse markets means producing a large volume of 'flødeboller' with labels tailored to multiple languages and regional preferences, highlighting the complexity behind bringing this Danish favorite to global consumers.
In the summer of 2023, Elvirasminde decided to move their label supply to Scanvaegt Labels, who would gradually take over the production of labels for their flødeboller. This decision has proven its full value over the past year and a half, and today, practically all 45–50 different label types come from Scanvaegt Labels.
A change that made a big difference
Lars Nielsen, Supply Chain & Optimization Manager at Elvirasminde, explains:
“We were experiencing a few bumps in the road, particularly regarding pricing and delivery reliability with our previous labels. That made us open to switching suppliers in 2023. We weren’t dissatisfied with the quality or standards of our previous supplier – but there were just too many inconvenient factors at play.”
Henrik Rhode, Director at Scanvaegt Labels, happened to be in contact with Lars at just the right time. And from 2023, things moved quickly. With his many years of experience in the label industry, Henrik and Scanvaegt Labels were able to deliver a quality equal to what Elvirasminde was used to.
“It’s a big move to switch all labels from one supplier to another,” Lars says. “You have to change everything – files, processes, deliveries, quality standards, and more. And deep down, you never really know if you’re making the right decision, or if the quality will meet expectations. Fortunately, I had no doubts. I knew Henrik’s integrity and quality standards and was confident that Scanvaegt Labels could handle the task.”
Communication is key
The many label transitions have been carried out gradually since the decision was made in the summer of 2023. Lars elaborates:
“Since we hit the ‘go’ button, things have moved incredibly fast. Scanvaegt Labels has shown great flexibility and reliability in their deliveries and responds very quickly to our inquiries. We feel completely confident knowing they put the customer first. And there’s truly excellent communication between us, Henrik, and the print facility in Odense.”

Mutual understanding leads to great success
Henrik adds, “We take pride in delivering a quality product. For example, at Elvirasminde, we have specifically adjusted the surface varnish of the labels to ensure the gloss matches what it has always been.”
Environmental considerations are a prominent focus at Scanvaegt Labels, and he elaborates, “We use environmentally friendly water-based inks, which many mistakenly believe are less durable. In fact, this provides both better environmental conditions and the highest quality. So it’s truly a win-win situation.”
The new labels are less expensive than the prices Elvirasminde was accustomed to from their previous supplier. “But,” as Lars says, “the overriding success factor is the collaboration with Scanvaegt Labels and the mutual understanding.”
He continues, “We expect willingness from Scanvaegt Labels and an effort to assist us in critical or urgent situations. In the same way, we are fully prepared to be flexible when Scanvaegt Labels needs it.”
